La Charrita Market
About This Spot
Stepping into La Charrita Market feels like slipping into a slice of everyday life in Fairfield where warmth and purpose quietly hum through the aisles. The space is modest and cozy, a bit snug around the edges, but it pulses with an inviting energy born from the rhythm of neighbors coming and going, exchanging greetings and familiar smiles. Here, the pace is unhurried yet busy—shoppers select their ingredients with intent, conversations drift around shared culinary stories, and the scent of freshly baked pan dulce lingers as a gentle welcome.
Though the market’s footprint is compact, every corner hints at carefully tended traditions. The heart of the store is unmistakably its meat counter, where friendly and helpful staff know the art of preparing the best cuts for carne asada or homemade tacos. It’s a moment of connection, where warm greetings make you feel known rather than just another customer. Nearby, familiar comforts like warm bolillos filled with cheese and jalapeños make the visit more than just a quick errand—the flavors are small celebrations of home and heritage.
While parking might demand a bit of patience and the aisles can feel a touch tight at times, these little challenges pale next to the authentic, lived-in atmosphere that defines La Charrita Market. It feels less like a store and more like a gathering spot where ingredients carry stories and every visit holds a quiet promise of something joyful and real to discover.

My first visit here I had steak milenesa torta. It was great. There is also check cashing, bakery, and meat market inside. Prices are ok. Parking is a challenge but you can find a spot.

Visited mid-morning on a Saturday. The parking lot is always an adventure. It's a very cramped parking lot. Inside is no different. It's small. Considering the day and time I went, they still had a few pan dulces left and some of warm bolillos with queso y jalapeños. Delicious. Didn't visit any other part of the store, but will definitely be back soon. Just be prepared to come with patience due to the size of the parking lot and store.

Cashiers should be more friendly. The pan dulce is great, but it would be helpful if they posted the times when it will be ready. A thing I dislike about the store is the limited parking space.

Best carne asada meats and chicken for grilling or making tacos. A little crowded and narrow but worth it

The heart of this market is the meat department. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They always say hello and ask how you been. Other areas of the store can be mediocre. My wife has issues when ordering fresh masa for her tamales. Either they run out (even when placing an order ahead of time) or the masa is not the best.

This place is exquisite and holds such a place in my heart. It's well-stocked with essentials and tidy, and everyone there works hard. It is a cozy store with narrower aisles - no supermarket (good)! but a proper neighborhood market with a busy taqueria at back. Yeah, you'll have to wait, but good food doesn't magically appear the moment you order it, so shop while you wait or just chill and admire the piñatas. They don't hate on me even though I'm gringita with español that's still trash and ask for menu substitutions like a Karen. Also, baked goods are amazing. Remember to tip your neighbors. God bless 'em.
